The WHO recommends drug use studies as a quantitative tool to analyze drug consumption. The objective of this study is to analyze the consumption of antimicrobials with the defined daily dose (DDD)/(100 stays-day per year) methodology in the adult hospitalization services of the Luis G. Dávila Hospital between 2014 to 2016, and to compare these data with other studies. The present work is an observational, descriptive, longitudinal and retrospective study in which the ATC DDD/100 stays-days were evaluated by months, years and by antimicrobial groups, obtaining an average value of 92,6. Seasonal behaviors and a trend of lower consumption of antimicrobials were also observed, due to the implementation of clinical protocols and guidelines, as well as pharmaceutical interventions.
